upgrade membership behavior was created by John Murray
We have some membership plans, corrosponding to 1 user, 2 users, 3 users -etc. The 2 and 3 user plans are available as an upgrade to the 1 user plan. After performing an upgrade BOTH plans are still showing active - how can we make only one plan active. Also, with multiple plans active does this result in multiple transactions to the credit card processor?

Hi John

The question is :

1. Your plans are one time or recurring subscription plans?

2. What payment methods you are using for accepting payment?

3. How did you upgrade?

Please let us know the answers, then I will give you detailed answers

Regards,

Tuan

the plans are recurring. in my example i would purchase a single member plan. then after logging in and selecting my subscriptions, i would upgrade my plan to a 2 member plan, I have a test case here:

imagesbymurray.com - logon as jmurray/porsche - then goto:

imagesbymurray.com/index.php/subscribe/my-subscription

we will be using authorize.net as the payment processor

Hello John

Unfortunately, at the moment, it is not possible to upgrade from one recurring plan to another recurring plan. The reason is because not all payment gateways which we support have an API to allow cancelling original recurring subscription while upgrade

So if you perform upgrade like that, you will end up of having two active recurring subscriptions. So in this case, I guess you will need to access to My Subscriptions tab and cancel the first subscription

I will try to adding support for use-case like this (just for payment gateways such as Authorize.net and Stripe only because these gateways have API to allow us to do that). But it will take time to implement. I will try to have it ready within Jan 2018 (so the next one month)

Regards,

Tuan

i'm very impressed by your components - simple, clean and elegant design. If appropriate, we would be happy to pay additional for these efforts.

thinking out loud here ....

would authorize support - changing the monthly recurring amount? In the scenario i described:

1) i purchase a single member subscription $40 1st month, $10 after
2) i "upgrade" to a 2 member subscription: since i've already paid the 1st month, each subsequent month would now be $15 .....

so the upgrade option would only affect remaining recurring payments for the term of the subsription

maybe another approach

1) purchase 1 member plan $40 1st month, $10 after
2) "upgrade" to 2 member plan - this takes into account the existing term of the original plan - so the initial 1st month, has already been paid, along with any recurring payments, up until the time of the upgrade. Renewal would be based on the this upgrade plan
