Activation email/defaults/offline payments

A few more questions - this time, no cart is enabled. :)
  1. When a user gets the activation email, they click the activation button, but that setting never gets changed on the backend (still says user not activated). However, the user is activated, and when I enable them, they can login fine. I've used non-free domains (company emails), gmail, hotmail, etc, and not sure why this isn't switching?
  2. Subscriptions: I have subscriptions based on countries, and subsequent subscriptions (so say, USA then 3 subscriptions underneath. Hoping for that country option!). For some strange reason, no matter which subscription I choose/click on, it takes me to a default ID #4 subscription. So if I go to South Africa -> Student (#20), it goes to India->Student (#4). If I go to USA->Mentor(#16), it goes to India->student(#4). Is there some sort of default option am not aware of?
  3. Offline payment module: when trying to process a subscription, whether free or paid, it keeps going and going and going - it never processes the subscription.
