It might be a helpful idea to allow something like fieldname:searchvalue in the search field for the members list. RIght now, searching for the state OR (Oregon) will also return any "or" in all the fields that are searchable - such as .org addresses, or the OR in George.
Having field specific searches will allow for better query construction as well. You might even be able to allow booleans such as AND and OR with parentheses to enhance the searches.
