Import event questions was created by TheAnt
Hello
we would like to use an excel file to import events into our site. The link to the example file in the documentation is not working.
We would like to have contributors compile the file, so I would like to know a few things about it:
- whether it is possible to translate the file into the language used by the site (Italian), so that instead of “title” there is “Titolo", instead of “cut_off_date” there is “Data chiusura prenotazione” etc.
- if importing works even if we delete some fields/columns that we don't want to have filled in.
- “Description” field contains html code, but in excel there is no wysiwyg editor, how does that work?
- does it make any difference if you color, enlarge, shrink the cells in the excel file?
Regards

Hi
1. You cannot change name in header column. It's actually name of field in database, so you cannot change/translate it
2. Yes. You can delete the columns you do not need
3. It will be imported as how you enter data in the excel file.
4. Honestly, I do not know. I don't think you should use color here. Enlarge or Shrink the cells should be OK
Regards,
Tuan

Hi Tuan, one more question regarding import using an Excel file.
Is it possible to use a dropdown list in the location and category cells? I did a test, the result says “There are total 1 events imported” but actually no events were entered.
The dropdown list allows you to use the exact name of the predetermined locations and categories

Honestly, this is something I never tried, so I do not know. Normally, these data will just be entered as text for these cell. I meant I don't know if the library which we are using to parse Excel file can detect data from dropdown like that, so if it does not work, I'm afraid of this is not possible

Tuan

I am doing more testing and yes, it works, you can use a dropdown list. Now I'm trying to figure out how to use a dropdown list for the date and time as well.
Best regards
