The event is supposed to be free but a donation is suggested. I'm not sure I am understanding the relationship between the event price and the ticket price. I have tried
event price     ticket price(s)
$0                     $10   <--(initial values)
$0                     $0
$0, $10             $0
$0, $10             $10
$10                   $0
$10                   $10

Obviously, I have no idea what I am doing and I have not been totally methodical in testing all these combos - I was desperately attempting to fix what I was told was a problem that my client claimed had not occurred with previous events - the problem was described as "people are unable to complete the registration form". Initially, I discovered that people who didn't choose at least one ticket for this free event - with a suggested donation of $10 (that is, they chose "0" from the dropdown list for number of tickets they wanted - they wished to attend this free event for free ) could not complete the registration process. However, if they chose 1 ticket (tickets were $10), they would be charged $10 - so the event was not free to them.

I initially "fixed" the problem of people complaining they couldn't complete the form by changing the ticket price to $0. People were then able to register themselves for free and there was no issue with them not being able to complete the form. However, the event Administrator did not like that people had to separately go to a donation button to make a donation to the event and wanted the ticket price put back to $10.

I made a number of changes --- at one point, the ticket price was $10 and the event price was $10. When a registrant bought 1 ticket for the event, they were charged $20 - presumably $10 for the "ticket" and $10 for the event. I have no idea what the event price is supposed to mean when there are tickets to the event.

At another point I had two kinds of tickets for the event. The event price was $0 and tickets were offered at $0 and $10. When a user chose to get a $0 ticket only, they were able to complete the registration and the event Administrator received an email with all the information about the registrant included in the registration. If they chose the $10 tickets the event Administrator got a shorter email which contained only the event info, the ticket type and the registrant's first and last name. This seems to be the reverse of what would be expected - and the event Administrator, who was used to receiving full information about registrants (who paid) was not at all pleased.

I have searched in vain for some clear information about what determines the amount of info the event Administrator receives in their notification email and I have searched in vain for some clear information about what the EVENT price determines.

The event will occur in a few days and the pace of registrations is expected to accelerate in the last days. Please provide some guidance here.

thanks

Hello David

If donation is optional, I would suggest you to create a custom fee fields to allow users to choose donation amount instead of using ticket types. See eventbookingdoc.joomservices.com/basic-s...wn-custom-field-type

The problem with ticket types is that if you use ticket types, the system will force you to choose at least one ticket type to complete the registration

Tuan

thank you very much for the rapid response. Your suggestion sounds to me like it should be exactly how this event should have been configured. I will have to give it a shot.

However - what will the notification email received by the event Admin contain for users who do make an optional donation and those who do not make a donation? I'm not entirely - make that not at all - clear why the event Admin needs all the detailed info that they had been getting about each registration nor why they are CURRENTLY getting complete info (name/address/email/phone) for users who do NOT donate but only name for users who DO donate.

Can you clarify those issues in the same very clear and straightforward manner as your original excellent reply?

when I configured the event so it had two kinds of tickets - $0 and $10 - the notification email sent to the event Admin if the registrant chose to purchase the $10 ticket(s) contained the event info registrant's name; if the registrant chose the free ticket(s) the email to the event Admin contained all the info entered on the registration form. That sounds backwards to me.When I have a chance later today to implement your suggestion of free tickets with an additional field for a donation, I guess I will find out what info is sent to the event Admin when a donation is made vs. when no donation is made.

There should be no difference. Maybe something special is happening on your site. If you want, please submit a support ticket so that I can check it directly on your site to see why there is difference like that and guide you with the correct setup

unfortunately, due to client preference to return to an earlier configuration I am unable to provide you with the opportunity to see this for yourself.
