Category select in Document edit view. was created by CBRNe World
Hi Tuan?
At some point, you seem to have changed this to a chosen element which has broken our Guided Tour for the client. The primary category select box does not need to be "chosen" and could just as easily have stayed as standard joomla select.
Please consider reverting this change as it doesn't bring any advantage, it's not a multiselect field.
For our Guided tour, this was step 4 in a 24 step tour...it's wrecked.

Hi,
Thanks for your feedback.
Could you please send us a screenshot showing the issue in your Guided Tour? That would help us better understand the problem and find the most appropriate solution for you.
Looking forward to your reply.
Best regards,
Dam

Hi Dam,
I hope these clarify my issue a little more:

I'm not sure when it was done but I don't see why it is even needed, the "additional categories" selector is an excellent way to handle other categories. A standard Joomla selector would work just as well here and be consistent with the other select boxes in the view and work with Guided Tours.

Ah, I just looked into the code for this it seems it has been added into an option in the config.
Does it have any other impact around the extension or just in the selectbox dropdowns?
Would you consider reverting the use of chosen input field and use a normal selectbox for not setting combo_box option?

OK, enabling the combo box sort of does what I need. I don't know why you are rendering the input field with the 'ct-input-box' class rather than the 'form-select' class but at least I can make this work with Guided Tours again.

I’m using the Chosen style for dropdown select lists because many of our customers have hundreds of categories. In such cases, it becomes very difficult for them to manually scroll and find the right category when adding a document.
Using the Chosen style is a practical solution, as it allows users to quickly search and filter the options in the dropdown, making the process much more efficient and user-friendly.
Thank you for your understanding. Please let me know if you have any concerns.
Best regards,
Dam

I still think there is something wrong in your markup.
Firstly, using "form-select inputbox" as a class for the combo box option makes a much more consistent aesthetic and secondly, the id of the combo-box input seems to be "jformcategory_id_id" which seems wrong, should be "jformcategory_id".

Hi,
1. Actually, the category dropdown select list does have the form-select CSS class. However, Edocman wraps it with the “chosen” library to allow users to search within the dropdown options. This provides a much better user experience, especially when there are many categories. Just imagine having over 100 categories — the search functionality becomes extremely useful in that case.
2. Regarding the ID of the element, it doesn't really matter what the exact value is, as long as it is unique within the form.
Thanks
Dam
