Front end uploads

Hi there

I'm having a few issues with front end uploads. My test user can upload a doc so that's title and a demo PDF, but I can't add anything to the Short Description or Description fields? It seems like they're "read-only" ?

I have checked my permissions and they seem ok. The user's group has the ability to edit (own & state)/create & delete?

I know permissions flow from Component>Category>Sub-cat > Doc  but can't see what might impact this? Any ideas?
