Joomla! finder filter - restrict to specific categories

Hello!
I need to restrict finder search results to specific categories of edocman: If a specific smartsearch module is used the search should only deliver results from a number of categories.
This can be done for Joomla! articles and for several other components by defining a smart search filter and include only specific categories. Easy so far, but it seems it can't be done for edocman search results.
Can you help me make that happen?

It's possible to restrict results to only edocman documents.
But it seems not possible to select specific edocman categories. They don't show up in the categories tab.  Did I forget to make a setting right?
 

Or, maybe, it can be done by using the EDocman search module?

You can't restrict search result of Joomla finder component through categories. You should use Edocman Search module to have that feature.

I was looking at the module settings but I couldn't find where to put in the categories to restrict the results. Is it the "default category ID"?
Can I put in only one ID?
