View documents not just download them was created by divesplash
Is there a way that users can view the documents online? I am accustomed to view the document when you click the title not just showing the details about the article.

Hi
If you want users to view document online, you can change some config options :
1. Go to EDocman -> Configuration .
2. Find the config option Show View Button and set it to Yes .
3. Make sure you change File Extensions for viewing to include file types you want users to view online .
After that, when users browse for Documents, they will be able to see the View Button next to Download button and they can click on that button to view the document online !

Hi, I'm a brand new user! I've searched the EDocman forum, and this is the topic closest to my question.
Here's my request: I would like to set up EDocman so that my website visitors can view my PDF files without having to download them. Ideally, I'd like them to pop up in a new tab on the same browser window; or if that's not possible, I'd like them to pop up in the same tab. I'd rather not have my viewers download documents that they probably only want to view.
I'm using EDocman on my own website to post documents like my resume, some of my dissertation research, and some of my other documents. I don't care if people download them, but I don't think they really want to add my documents to their computers. I think they'd just like to view them and eventually flush them out of their caches.
Is this possible? I can't figure out a setting where I can make the system *only* allow for views without downloads.
Help, please?

Hi Jeff
You can go to EDocman -> Configuration, find the config option Show View Button, set it to Yes. After that, next to each document will have a view button which allows users to click on to view the document. Is that what you need ?

Wow, that was a superfast response! Thank you very much! :woohoo:
Your instructions are half of what I'm looking for. I want people to be able to view my documents, but I don't want them to download them. I can't figure out how to get only a view button without also getting a download button. Does that make sense?
Thank you,

Hi jeff
If you want to remove the download button, you will need to edit code alitle. Could you send me the link to the Documents page on your site so that I can guide you ? In the near future, I might have a config option which allows hiding downloads button .

It's almost scary how fast you respond! Do you ever sleep?
I have created a documents module that's on most of the pages of my joomla website. It's not done, so please don't laugh at how basic it is. If you have a moment to look and advise me, I'd really appreciate it. I'm fairly comfortable getting into the code with a little guidance.

Thanks! And now go to bed, please. I sure am!

Hi Jeff
I implemented the feature into the extension. So you can login to your account, access to My Downloads menu item, see the order, download it and upgrade it to your site. After that, edit the module, set the Link Type parameter to View Document. After that, when users click on the link, they will view the document instead of downloading them.
Also, you can go to EDocman -> Configuration, change the two config options as below :
1. Hide Download Button : Set it to Yes. Then when users browse for documents in EDocman, they won't see a download button.
2. Show View Button : Set it to Yes so that users can see the view button instead of download button which allows them to click on to view the document .
