Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) was created by David Boggitt
Hi there,

A client has just had an email saying Our information shows that you need to make changes to your Stripe integration in order to prepare for  Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) . Action is required to help avoid an increase in declined payments after the 14 March, 2022 enforcement deadline in the UK.
We have checked and this is not a SPAM email.

What do I need to do to comply with this?  Is updating the component and Stripe plugin to the latest versions sufficient, or is this something outside of eShop?

Very many thanks,

Dave.

Hello Dave,

Thank you for submitting the question here. Regarding your question: Yes, we have EShop Stripe Checkout payment plugin which meet SCA. You can purchase EShop Stripe Checkout payment plugin and use it.

Sincerely, Giang

Thank-you for the reply.

We are already using EShop Stripe version 2.0.1, is there an updated version?

Hello David,

EShop Stripe is different from EShop Stripe Checkout. Please purchase EShop Stripe Checkout payment plugin and use it as a new payment plugin.

Sincerely, Giang

Thank-you, I understand this now!

I have two more questions:

1) In the plugin parameters, it says Endpoint Secret, but in the instructions it says Signing Secret. Are these the same thing?

2) Do I need to buy the separate plugin for Events Booking, which is also used on the same website?

Best wishes,

Dave.

Hello Dave,

That's no problem. Regarding your questions:

1. Ah yes, they are same. Sorry for making you confused.
2. Yes, you need to purchase EB Stripe Checkout to have Stripe Checkout work for Events Booking. EShop Stripe Checkout can be only used for EShop.

I hope my answers are clear.

Sincerely, Giang

Hello.  I have done this now and asked the client to check with Stripe, who said on their chat:
Code:
You need to migrate to Payment Intents In order to stay ahead of the regulation, your business, or the third-party your business relies on to create charges on Stripe, will need to integrate our Payment Intents API. Payment Intents is Stripe's newest API that abstracts the complexities of charge creation and SCA exemptions and introduces dynamic control of 3DS to help ensure that you're providing the customer with a streamlined, compliant checkout experience. If you'd like to learn more about which of Stripe's SCA-ready solutions is right for you, please follow the instructions to fill out the questionnaire on https://support.stripe.com/questions/strong-customer-authentication-sca-integration-recommendation-questionnaire
We asked if we have done the necessary changes and they said:
Code:
No, you're still on Charges API which is not SCA ready And this is how you migrate to PaymentIntents: https://stripe.com/docs/payments/payment-intents/migration-synchronous
I don't know what to do from here :(

Hello David

Are you sure you are using EB Stripe Checkout, EShop Stripe Checkout and not EB Stripe and Eshop Stripe ?

If you are using right payment plugin, we are using Stripe Checkout API stripe.com/docs/api/checkout/sessions/create , not the charge API as you said stripe.com/docs/api/charges

And just want to be clear, if you use Stripe Checkout, customers will be redirected to stripe to process payment, not enter credit card information directly on your site

Could you please check and confirm that you are using right payment plugin?

Dear David Boggitt,

Yes, sound like you are still using EShop Stripe, not EShop Stripe Checkout. Please disable EShop Stripe payment plugin, then enable and setup EShop Stripe Checkout.

Sincerely, Giang

Dear Giang,

It's definitely the checkout plugin (please see attached image) for EventBooking and eShop.  It's working too, as people have successfully booked onto Events.

Perhaps it's a Stripe issue?
