I am setting up my first eshop site and would like to use with Paypal to process credit card and paypal payment methods. I am located in Australia and just read another threat that stated Paypal pro is not valid for Australia. How do I go about setting up Paypal to process payments for eshop in Australia? Can I use an integrated method or offline method?

I can see the plug-in for paypal standard. There is a "payment fee" field. According to the Paypal website, the fee = 2.6% + $0.30.
How do I enter than into the payment fee field?

Hello Aaron,

1. If you are in Australia, then you should use PayPal Standard payment gateway instead of PayPal Pro

2. PayPal standard supports you to enter the payment fee (Fixed amount or Percentage of sub-total). You can try it.

Sincerely, Giang

Hi,

I am still working through my first eshop and still liking it so far. I have setup Paypal standard. However i still have two questions.
1. As per you response, for paypal fee, you can enter % or fixed amount. Is this to track the fee charged by Paypal? If so, according to paypal, they charge a percentage of 2.6% plus $0.30 for each transaction. How do i enter both into that field... or am i wrong there, and is that field for charging my customer a fee for using paypal.

2. Paypal standard requires a customer to use their existing paypal account or they need to create one. Some customers will not want to create a paypal account. So is the a way around this with an "express" checkout or can someone recommend an alternative payment plug-in to offer in addition to paypal to allow a quicker and simpler payment with a credit card without requiring an account setup. I noticed there is a NAB plug-in for Australia, is this a simple payment method or are there others.... I prefer to stick with my Suncorp accounts.

Hello Aaron,

1. Currently, there is only one field to enter payment fee. You can only enter the fixed amount or the percentage value there.

2. We have EShop NAB Transact payment plugin here: joomdonation.com/payment-plugins/eshop-payment-plugins.html . Hope that it works as you expect.

Sincerely, Giang

I received the following response from Paypal. I was of the understanding that using paypal standard and the built in payment plug-in would allow customers to pay without requiring a paypal account. My tests show that a paypal account is required which is not desired. I contact paypal and they sent me the following response. So it is possible to use Paypal Standard and not have to force customer to sign up to paypal or loose the sale? Can I add this button to the payment plugin or modify the existing?

Our Technical Team has confirmed that the 'Business' Set up is outdated, while we work on replacing this page you can access Website Payments Standard or payment buttons through 'My selling tools' on your Profile.
On your previous email, I understand that you want to accept payments from non-PayPal customer, this feature is already enabled on your Business PayPal account.
By creating payment buttons on your business account and using it on your website, your customers can pay using a credit card without logging in or creating a PayPal account.
Here's how to create PayPal payment buttons:
1. Log in to your PayPal account.
2. Click the Business Profile icon at the top right corner of the page.
3. Click Profile and settings.
4. Click My selling tools.
5. Click Update in the PayPal buttons section.
6. Click Create new button under Related Items.
7. Select the button you want to create.
8. Follow the instructions and click Create Button.
9. Copy and paste the payment button code into your website code.
10. Every payment button you create is saved in your PayPal account.
Thank you for choosing PayPal.

The guest checkout doesn't display in paypal test mode. The plug-in needs to be in live mode to show the paypal guest checkout. So to do a proper test you need to be in live mode to actually see the correct functionality.

Hi Aaron,

I am a bit confused about your long message. Just need to use Standard PayPal in live mode, you will be able to start receiving the orders.

Sincerely, Giang

I am setting up my first eshop site and would like to use with Paypal to process credit card and paypal payment methods. I am located in Australia and just read another threat that stated Paypal pro is not valid for Australia. How do I go about setting up Paypal to process payments for eshop in Australia? Can I use an integrated method or offline method? Recently I implemented a payment gateway from  linkpay.io into my business. This helped to take payments to a new level.

I can see the plug-in for paypal standard. There is a "payment fee" field. According to the Paypal website, the fee = 2.6% + $0.30.
How do I enter than into the payment fee field?
If you use PayPal Standard to process payments in Australia, the fee is indeed 2.6% + $0.30 AUD per transaction. However, most e-commerce platforms do not allow you to automatically calculate a percentage fee when entering a fixed value in the Payment Fee field. You will need to take this into account when setting it up.

The options are:
Fixed Fee - If the Payment Fee field only accepts one value, you can enter an average amount, such as $0.30 + an average percentage of your expected orders. For example, if the average order is $50, the fee would be approximately $1.60 (2.6% of $50 + $0.30), and you can set it manually.

Dynamic Calculation - If your platform allows you to set formulas or use plugins to calculate the fee, you can set it up to automatically calculate (order amount x 2.6% + $0.30).

Including the commission in the product price - if the platform does not support adding a commission, you can take it into account in the product price in advance to avoid losses.

Check the documentation of your eCommerce platform or contact support to clarify how exactly you can set the payment commission dynamically.
