Subscription automated emails not sent was created by John O Connor
Hello Tuan,

I have the following problem after my hosting upgraded my server to centos7.

My email is working for everything apart from MembershipPro.

The problem is I do not receive any email notifying me of new subscriptions and the subscriber receives no emails after subscription. The only mail I recieve is from Paypal regarding payment received.

Any idea as to what the issue might be would be great.

Hello John

The question is what's the status of the subscription record? Is it Pending or Active? If it is active, then email should be sent (unless there is a problem with mail server)

If you are using version 2.8.x, go to Membership Pro -> Configuration, there is a config option called Log Email Types. You can select the email types you want to logs

Then each time Membership Pro calls Joomla API for sending emails, it will log a record in database. You can then go to Membership Pro -> Email to check and see the email sents...

That would be checking the issue easier

Thanks for the reply.

I am using an older version of membership pro which does not have that feature.

As for the STATUS of the SUBSCRIPTIONS they are ACTIVE.

If it is possible, please update to latest version, it would help troubleshooting it easier. For now, maybe you can try to create a new subscription record from backend, then check to see whether the subscriber receives email or not?

Hello Tuan,

I created a new subscription from within the administration.

RESULTS
The subscriber received the subscription email.
Admin received no email regarding the new subscription.


I emailed my hosting support and they asked for the following.

Hello John,
If the above (membershippro) has SMTP authentication settings, please reply with a screenshot of these so we can verify that these are correct.


Looking at my email settings in my joomla administration it is using php mailer.

When you create a new subscription record, only user receive email, not administrator, so the behavior is correct

Normally, if subscription is active, Membership Pro would trigger sending email. So in this case, I would suggest you to:

1. Try to subscribe, make payment.

2. Then contact your hosting provider, ask them to see whether there is an email is sent from their mail server system. They should be able to check and tell you the result

Membership Pro uses Joomla core mail API for sending mail, it doesn't have it own mail settings. You can go to System - Global Configuration of your site, look at Server tab, Mail Settings section and change Mail Settings to SMTP, then try again.

Also, try to subscribe using a different email to see whether you receive email as subscriber. I am worry that there might be a problem with your email which is configured to receive notification, too

This is not the way it was working before. Administrator would also receive mail regarding new subscriptions created and active. This is the email message setup in the email and messages in membership pro.

EXAMPLE - ADMINISTRATOR WOULD RECEIVE A MAIL LIKE THIS.
Dear Admin
User John O Connor has just purchased Joomlage0109 - Axis. The subscription detail is as follow:



Maybe this is a related issue. If not related I still need it resolved and will create another topic for it.
When new subscribers checkout using 2checkout
1: no membership id created in membership pro
2: but the account is activated
3: And they are not giving access to the item purchased.

Hello John

=> I developed the extension, so I know how it works. The email sent to admin will only be sent when new users subscribe for the plan from frontend. When admin creates subscription records from backend, admin knows about it, so we don't send notification email to admin. That's how it works from beginning and haven't changed

That might causes by something changed on your site. You can submit a support ticket so that we can check it. By the way, what version of Membership Pro you are using? I hope it is not very old version and if it is possible, please upgrade to latest version 2.8.1. It will make it easier for us to support

When I was referring to administrator not receiving any notification email I am on about new subscribers from the frontend ;). Administrator receives no email and I always did.

As for the 2checkout issue I did not change anything on the site.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

About the email, I was talking about creating new subscription record (mean creating from backend), not from frontend

Was it working well before? Or it doesn't work from the beginning? Also, what version of the extension you are using?
