Best way to handle Group Registration was created by Adam Marks
First, I love this Extension, it just keeps getting better...
Second, I'd like some advice about the best way to handle this registration setup scenario:
1. Our events are offline payments only.
2. We typically have one person registering for a group of people (a family or a group of friends).
3. I have the need to have multiple payment levels (Adult, teenage, child)
4. I need to collect information (first name, last name, and phone number of all the people who are coming to the event.
5. Only the billing person gets notified and is responsible for the registration.
I've created a custom field for the different levels, but I can only apply that once. I don't want the registering party to have register individually and have to reenter their billing information each time.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Adam

Hi Adam
If I understand your requirement properly, you will need to go to Events Booking -> Events, click on the event to change the settings.
Look at Group Members field settings tab, and choose to hide the fields you don't want for group members.
That should solve the issue. could you try ?

Hi,
If I understand this correctly, group registration in EB will collect all names and details of individuals BUT for that one event only and allow one payment.
The Cart function will allow you to register multiple people for different events and pay once BUT not allow you to collect information about each member? (See quote below from events booking documentation.)
"Events Booking support two types of registration options:
Use Individual / Group registration option: This is default registration option when you first install Events Booking. Using this option, when users view the events, depend on the settings of the event, you will see two Register buttons:
Register (Individual) which allows you to register for individual user.
Register (Group) which allows you to perform registration for a group of users. You can config the system to collect information of all groups members or just colllect group billing information (the information of user who performs the registration)
Use shopping cart option: This option is turned off by default. If you want to use this registration option, go to Events Booking->Configuration, find the config option Activate Shopping Cart feature, set it to Yes. Using this registration option, Events Booking will work much like a shopping cart. Users can browse and register for multiple events within one checkout. The down site of this option is that it doesn't allows you to collect information of each members (like the group registration option).
Since this two options cannot work together, you need to try and decide the one which meets your requirement best."
I'm a bit confused as to what it means that you can't collect information about individuals? They are registered for whatever event that you've chosen aren't they and are recorded?? I must be missing the meaning here somehow?!?!
Basically I would like to be able to allow an individual to be able to register a number of people across several events and pay once for all. Much like what Adam has proposed.
Thanks for any help you can offer,
Darryl

Hi Darryl
I understand your point and what you want. However, unfortunately, as mentioned in the documentation, the feature is not supported in the extension.
1. When you activate shopping cart feature, Events Booking will work much like a shopping cart. It will allows users to add events to cart and register for multiple events within one checkout. However, it doesn't allow you to collect information of members in this case (for example, if you register fr 3 people for event 1 and 2 people for event 2, it doesn't allow you to enter information of these 5 people). It only allow you enter information of the person who makes the booking.
That's how it works at the moment

Hi Tuan,
Is this still the way the system works and if so is there any road map to implement what is being asked?
Thank you,
Darryl

I just purchased this extension and ran into the same issue with group registration. I was under the impression that the cart would allow me to collect the information of attendees. How can I request a refund for this extension? If it were not for this limitation, I would use it for our client's solution.
Thanks

Hi Lexe
You can send an email to tuanpn@joomdonation.com and let us know Paypal Transaction ID of your purchase. I will refund the money
That feature is something which I will start working on in the next year.

Hi Tuan,
This is a much sought after implementation. I think you would find a larger following. I.e. customers, if you work to include this in the package.

Darryl

Will implement it. It is not really hard. The biggest challenge is that if someone register for 3 events for example, and each event they register for 5 tickets, the form to enter members data will be long

Hi Tuan,
Can I suggest an algorithm something like this to perhaps minimise the long form issue?:-
To avoid a long form, What about being directed to the same form for each individual person and save each one as they are registered? These individuals could then be 'listed' (just their name eg) with the cost against the event/category as registered on the 'first' page. Perhaps there could be an option to delete or modify here as well.
Scenario:-
For this event only individuals are able to register. i.e no group registrations allowed.
There are two events/categories A-Seniors B-Juniors
1. Five members of the one family living at the same address - two seniors and three juniors.
Step one - Option to enter as an individual or as a group (of individuals) with one payment on checkout.
* At registration a Senior person who is registering for all members is directed to the event/category form selected and then enters themselves (in the Senior category) and then enters all of the common data - address, email, phone no, etc.
* Below this there would be two buttons:- "Register another individual" and another to "Pay/checkout now".
* Selecting the first button the user data is saved and then is directed back to the first registration screen. Their name is now listed against the event they've registered for with the cost and a running total cost for all.
Step 2 The next person is entered in the category selected (Senior or Junior) but this time there is a check box asking if the same common data is to be used.
If checked then all that is required is to enter their name. If not then the common data inputs would be shown.
Step 3 This iteration would continue until the "Pay/checkout now" is pressed and you are taken to a payment page.
It would be nice if merchandise (eg T-shirts) could be included in this process as well.
Anyway, just my thoughts. I know it's easy to put in words but a 'bit' harder to implement in code.
I appreciate that you're looking into this.
Thanks,
Darryl
