Custom Fields/Messages during Checkout

It would be useful to be able to add custom fields/messages during checkout payment and/or confirm order sections.
They are currently only available for delivery & billing address.

If this was added, messages (textarea) could be shown to the customer, explaining the different payment methods.
For example, a message could explain how the offline payment and offline credit card processing works.

In the Eshop documentation, it refers to 'Display custom fields anywhere', but don't think it really means anywhere (i.e. during payment stage of checkout).

At the Payment step of checkout, there is a text title on the top. You can translate it to explain more about the payment methods as you want. Please go to EShop -> System -> Translation, filter by language item ESHOP_PAYMENT_METHOD_TITLE to translate it as you want.

Is there a text limit on this (number of characters)?
That's why I was asking about a text area box, as I would ideally like to put in a few lines of text (and perhaps format it).

No, there is no limitted of number of characters. If it is a long text with html tags, then please browser the language file of EShop component under language/en-GB/en-GB.com_eshop.ini, then open and find that language item to edit and change it.

So just to confirm, if we want to enter html for the payment method section, we would add it after the entry ESHOP_PAYMENT_METHOD_TITLE=

and replace the text "Please select the preferred payment method to use on this order." with what we need?

The html would be entered in between the quotes?
