I have Membership Pro set up with recurring payents via PayPal. With this configuration I understand that the user needs to cancel their subscription via PayPal rather that Membership Pro (unless I upgrade to PayPal Pro). When a user cancels via PayPal they do not see a cancellation message from the recurring subscription messages config - is this expected behaviour ?

Yes, unfortunately, that's how it works at the moment. I will try to improve it in the future (working on some other improvements at the moment, too). Something we should have in the extension in 2 to 3 weeks
