Hi Colin

You are saying that any text can be entered and passed the validation rule ? Could you please send me the link to the form so that I can try?

Basically, it can validate the format of the email, however, it could not validate if the actual email exists or not

Ah, OK. It does validate the format, but anyone can put rubbish before "@gmail.com" (for example), and get past it.

I was hoping for an email validator that would check to see if the email address was real, but I can't seem to find one for forms. There are plenty for Joomla registration.

Thanks anyway.

=> You mean there are extensions which can check the valid of actual email ? If so, could you please let me know which one so that I can try to check and learn from their code ?
