Collecting emails for free events. was created by Mike Holmes
With the new version of Events Booking free events do not display the billing form an excellent idea however there is a warning displayed that an email address should be entered, is there any way to have the logged in user's information filled in automatically when registering for a group for a free event. We would need the email if the event is canceled.
Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike
I am sorry. I still don't really understand the issue you are having. Could you please explain more details ? Maybe making a screenshot explain the issue so that I can understand and give you the answer?

Hi Tuan,
I guess the best way to explain the problem is to send you a sample output from the registration. When people sign up for the free event using group registration there is no email address saved. Sometimes we do not have enough people sign up for an event and need to notify those signed up that the event has been canceled or rescheduled. Since there is no email address saved we cannot use your bulk mailing feature for this.
Hope this makes it a bit clearer.

Hi Mike
That's strange to me. Could you please submit a support ticket:
1. Send me super admin account of your site
2. Send me the link to the registration page
I will look at it, check it to see what's wrong and get it sorted.

Was there ever a solution to this issue?
I'm facing the same thing.
I need to have the 'billing' fields show on a free group event (so I can get their email as well as the address for the person placing the registration).

As mentioned on your other forum post, we disable billing step on group registration because People don't need it for free events. But I also hear that some customer need it, so I will make it as a config option in the extension.
Will have it ready on Monday next week
Regards,
Tuan

I just updated download package with the necessary change. If you need this feature, just download latest version, upgrade it to your site. Then go to Events Booking -> Configuration, find the config option "Show Billing Step For Free Events", set it to Yes and it will work as expected
