Joomla Core Captcha - which one? was created by Festus Thomas
I have updated to the latest version 1.6.6 today. I activated the 'captcha' option in the configuration section. I want to allow visitors to register for a certain event.
But when I tested, it gives me the alert
"You need to enable Joomla captcha so that captcha can be used in Events Booking".
Where is this 'Joomla Captcha' ?
I searched the plugins and can only find 'recaptcha' Is this the 'Joomla Captcha' I have to activate or some other plugin ?
I am using Joomla 3.2.6
I downloaded and installed the captcha plugin 'easycalccheckplus' and activated, but that does not solve the problem.
I still get the Error message.
Please advise solution.

Hi Festus

You can use Joomla core recaptcha. Please publish, config that captcha plugin.

After that, you will need to do one more step:

Go to System -> Global Configuration, find the Default Captcha config option and set it to the Captcha you want to use (which is recaptcha in this case)

After that, everything should work well

If it still doesn't work, please submit a ticket sending us super admin account of your site so that we can setup it for you

Regards,

Tuan

BTW, documentation for setting up captcha can be found at documentation.joomdonation.com/2-events-...116-use-captcha.html

Have you changed the Captcha from previous versions?
My previous 1.14 EB (and also Payment Form) used a 6-letter/number combination, now EB 1.6.6 uses the Recaptcha that takes up a lot more room on the page.
Can I go back to the previous version? Is it in the JED?

Hi Colin

The new version of my extensions use Joomla core Captcha (recaptcha in this case) to make it more secure. What is the actual problem you are having ? You can explain, and let us know so that we can check and solve it for you.

Please don't go back to old version. You should always use latest version if it is possible

I'm not having a problem at all now with EB, it's just the amount of space the core Google reCaptcha takes up on the form ... it's huge. And it's ugly. (Plus it is confusing, because even the modified versions available still say "type the two words" when there's actually only one number.)

The old captcha that you had in-built used very little space and was simple for clients to follow. (I was referring to going back just to it, not going back to an older version of EB.)

I'll just have to keep hunting through the JED to find a more simple captcha to use as a core Jooma captcha. If there's any recommendations, please let me know.

Hi Colin

I don't know which is the simple one to use. Maybe we will try to implement our old captcha as a Joomla core plugin so that you can use it. However, to be honest, it will take us from 7 to 10 days to implement it
